Esri European Petroleum GIS Conference
security.manager in the petroleum industry
At the end of October, con terra had the pleasure of sponsoring and attending the 2018 Esri European Petroleum GIS Conference. With a good attendance from industry GIS managers and specialists, the range of talks covered everything from ArcGIS roadmap updates, to how large organisations are embracing digital transformation, with GIS playing a role right at the heart of that process.
As per the previous two years, con terra had a booth in the EXPO, and a spotlight talk, where we presented security.manager – ArcGIS Edition. The product is already in use by several large companies in the petroleum and related industries.
In the majority of enterprises, the need to share information is increasingly important, especially with geospatial data. However, many organizations are reluctant to provide access to data, even internally, without imposing conditions. security.manager solves this problem by providing the ability to impose fine-grained access control rules, including spatial authorization and access to the individual layers or features. GIS Administrators in a company can explicitly define who gets to see what in any of their published spatial services. In doing so, security.manager enables companies to extend Enterprise security concepts to the ArcGIS Platform.
We thank the organisers for another great conference, and look forward to seeing continued success at future conferences!
