Review - INSPIRE Conference

15.09.2017

A week of Connecting the Dots at the INSPIRE Conference in Strasbourg and Kehl. Looking forward to the INSPIRE Conference 2018 in Antwerp!

The INSPIRE Conference 2017 took place in Kehl (Germany) and Strasbourg (France) from 4th to 8th September 2017.

This year’s theme “INSPIRE a digital Europe: Thinking out of the box” was a great opportunity to contribute with presentations of diverse topics such as Open Data, Copernicus, User Experience…and of course share our experiences with INSPIRE implementations.

For the staff of con terra the INSPIRE Conference was a good chance to meet friends and partners and make new contacts among the INSPIRE experts.

In addition to many presentations given by our INSPIRE experts, the hackathon hosted by con terra was a special highlight.

“Hackathon: INSPIRE + Open Data + Copernicus … Let’s Connect the Dots!”

We got together for a hackathon on September 5, 2017 to see what can be done with data from INSPIRE, Open Data and Copernicus.

This hackathon was meant as a chance for people to come together for creative problem solving, generating innovative ideas, and learning from each other.

Despite much “competition” from other workshops the room was packed with enthusiastic participants bursting with ideas! Nine interesting ideas were pitched and groups formed to work on five of these ideas ranging from compiling cross-border dataset with INSPIRE data, evaluating whether Copernicus data can help detect waste in marine protection areas to using crowd sourced data in Disaster Management.

This hackathon proved to be a good (and fun!) means to get experts from different domains together, learn from each other, and create promising ideas.

INSPIRE Conference 2018 in Belgium

We are already looking forward to the next INSPIRE Conference in Antwerp (Belgium) September 17 – 21, 2018!
