NRW environmental platform creates transparency

UvO NRW. On-site environmental data - More than 140 thematic maps provide information on the environmental situation in your own living environment.

The citizens of North Rhine-Westphalia are now even more experienced in knowing how the environment is at their own doorstep. With the newly revised Internet platform for environmental data on the ground (UvO), the state of NRW is creating transparency. More than 140 thematic maps provide information on: industrial emissions, air quality values, drinking water protection areas, water quality, water levels, bathing water, rainfall data, flood areas, noise data and nature reserves. Deepening links and the naming of concrete contact persons in the environmental management of the state and municipalities supplement the information offer.

Since December 8, the new platform is online at www.uvo.nrw.de. The contents of UvO are constantly updated and come from various official bodies, such as the State Office for Nature, Environment and Consumer Protection, or the state enterprise forest and wood. UvO is therefore an essential component of the implementation of the environmental information law NRW (UIG). The Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Agriculture, Nature Conservation and Consumer Protection (NRW), responsible for UvO, has been responsible for the expansion of the platform in close cooperation with IT.NRW and con terra GmbH.

The new version also involved a technological advancement of the map.apps-based application.
