TIM-Online
Landesvermessungsamt NRW
(NRW State Surveying Department)
TIM-Online is an HTML-based and OGC-compatible web client which is able to employ any OGC WMS services for displaying combinations of maps. TIM-Online is based on the MapViewerFramework (MVF) by con terra, a web-based information system of modular construction and makes use of current web techniques.
TIM-Online is a web application that conforms with OGC standards, which means that it is an important means of securing currentness, completeness and full coverage of North Rhine-Westphalia, as well as providing a backbone for the geodata infrastructure.
The HTML client used to access TIM-Online operates exclusively on the distributed WMS infrastructure of the GDI NRW, and provides additional functions for the gathering and transmission of information regarding topographical changes. This forms part of the reporting procedures employed by the participating departments and the public. Any WMS can be loaded into the TIM-online client, the only condition being that it conforms with OGC specifications. The user locates the services he requires by instigating a catalogue search. To this end, TIM-online also supports the CS-W interfaces of the OGC. The user is given a selection of easy-to-operate digitising tools, directly in the web-client, for labelling the change information. In this way, the user can draw the respective area, line or point directly in the map. The change information is then sent to the state surveying department via e-mail.
The TIM-Online application was voted 'OGC-Website of the Month' by the OGC.
