Web-Based Mapping Application for Flood Plains
Niedersächsiches Landesamt für Ökologie
(State Departmant for Ecology, Lower Saxony)
The overall goal of this web application is to provide real time information on road conditions (road blocks, diversions, etc.) in the event of flooding.
The road block information is updated by authorised personnel in a heterogeneous distributed computing environment based on standard browser technology (without plug-ins). An interactive map provides all the functions for marking and unmarking blocked roads and defining diversions.
Topographical base data, as well as road, river and flood plain data are processed within this application. The web design was optimised for the citizen user group. The application will be released in 2004.
