terraCatalog - Web Catalogue Service for Geospatial Data Infrastructures
terraCatalog is an OGC Web Catalogue Service
for the publication and provision of metadata for
geospatial services, geospatial data, and applications.
It functions as an easy to use search machine
on the Intranet and Internet and enables fast ccess
to distributed geospatial information resources of
spatial data infrastructures on regional, local and
organisational levels.
terraCatalog supports the search for and maintenance
of metadata via intuitive web user interfaces. The broker
function enables it to integrate external catalogues and data
sources in its search for metadata (distributed searching,
harvesting), as well as make its own metadata available
to external users via standardised interfaces. The system
implements the OGC CSW 2.0.2 interface, as well as the ISO
Metadata Application Profile V1.0 (ISO19115/19119) and
the DE Profile for Catalogue Services.
terraCatalog satisfies the requirements of the European
Commission’s INSPIRE Directive for the creation of an EU
Spatial Data Infrastructure. All INSPIRE metadata elements
for collection, validation and result portrayal are available.
terraCatalog also completely supports all search elements
defined for INSPIRE.
terraCatalog, when combined with additional components,
not only supports the administration of metadata and the
fast search for data and services, but also the quality monitoring
of services (serviceMonitor) and the direct use of map
services (mapClient). The optional‚ terraCatalog-Connector for ArcGIS‘ adds the ability to load services and data directly
into ArcGIS.

terraCatalog-Connector for ArcGIS is a product option for data (Layer,shape, sde-feature class) and services ( WMS, ArcIMS and ArcGIS Server) to be opened out of terraCatalog in ArcGIS ArcMap directly.
