serviceMonitor - Quality Management in Spatial Data Infrastructures
The effectiveness of any Spatial Data Infrastructure is ultimately dependent upon the quality of the underlying services. The sdi.suite serviceMonitor is the ideal tool for monitoring compliance with defined quality requirements in SDIs. Once registered, services are constantly monitored and evaluated by serviceMonitor. If a service is lost, or certain defined - or, in the case of INSPIRE services, required - availability criteria are not met, the appropriate administrators or service operators are notified automatically by e-mail or SMS text message.
serviceMonitor monitors various services at configurable time intervals. OGC service types (e.g. WMS, WFS, WCS) are supported in addition to ArcIMS, ArcGIS Server and INSPIRE Network Services.
In the latter case, the INSPIRE Quality of Service parameters (availability, performance, and capacity) are preconfigured. If any of the configured services do not conform with prescribed quality requirements, the relevant personnel are notified immediately by e-mail or SMS text.
A standard web browser is used for accessing the administration functions, offering rapid and intuitive access to serviceMonitor's functions. The integrated user manager permits specific views of the configured services. In addition to the solutions' monitoring and notification functions, performance figures can be outputted in the form of reports or statistics, thus providing information on availability and response times. The data can also be exported into Excel. Clearly laid out charts enable easy comparisons of performance figures.
sdi.suite serviceMonitor can be integrated as a web service in a variety of infrastructures and applications. Integration with sdi.suite terraCatalog is supported as standard. A widget can be integrated displaying interactive performance charts for external web applications.
