mapClient - web application for the efficient use of SDI services
The mapClient component of the sdi.suite is a configurable web solution which enables the efficient use of the services distributed within a spatial data infrastructure. The services are integrated either dynamically or by configuration via standardised OGC, ISO or GDI-DE interfaces.
mapClient is an application based on the con terra mapClient Framework Technology. It offers a wide range of functions for displaying, navigating, searching, selecting and managing WMS, WFS, ArcIMS and ArcGIS Server services. Services that are protected by a Web Security Service are incorporated in mapClient through interaction with Open Source Software provided by the 52°North Initiative.
he new functions that are now available in Release 2.1 include measurement and redlining, map printing, and the ability to save and load map views (OGC WMC). The new version also offers a Gazetteer search function.
The mapClient installation can be expanded into a geoportal by adding additional component modules from the sdi.suite. The integration of an OGC catalogue service means that the services required can be searched context-specifically and loaded into mapClient. In this context, the application is already in line with the requirements of the INSPIRE Directive. Moreover, a service can be accessed directly via a configurable favourites list, or by entering a URL. Using the mapClient configuration management, it is also possible to define the available functionality, the layout, and the content that is accessible for different purposes and user groups.
