terraCatalog now available in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's new GeoPortal
As of June 2009, the completely redesigned GeoPortal.MV is available online, as part of the spatial data infrastructure ('GDI') for the federal state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ('MV') The portal is now based on con terra's sdi.suite product family, which gives it a new layout and a range of new functions.
The components used in the GDI-MV portal are hosted and serviced by the data processing centre, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern GmbH (DVZ M-V GmbH). The central element of the portal is its metainformation system, known as GeoMIS.MV, which is based on the current version 2.3 of the sdi.suite terraCatalog, and conforms with the requirements of the EU INSPIRE directive.
The GeoMIS.MV is an online searching system which allows users to locate spatial data, geoservices, and related applications, throughout Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Metadata searches can be performed both in the GeoMIS.MV and in other geocatalogues (e.g. AdV-MIS and PortalU). This is made possible by the standard terraCatalog function that allows distributed searching. Search results in the form of services (such as WMS) can be transferred from terraCatalog and visualised directly in the GeoMIS.MV spatial data viewer.
The sdi.suite securityManager is employed to organise access rights to spatial data and geoservices. It ensures the security of services (such as ALK WMS/WFS or DOP20 WMS), which are only available for authorised users for integration in their own GIS applications. Another component of the sdi.suite product family, the serviceMonitor, will be incorporated by the end of the year, for the purpose of geo-web-service monitoring.
GeoMIS.MV is available for use, free of charge, by all departments in the state and local governments of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, as well as by all businesses operating in the field of spatial information.

The cooperation between con terra and the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania together with the DVZ M-V company has been highly successful. Both institutions employ solutions supplied by con terra, which ensure the consistent implementation of the INSPIRE directive, in line with international standards, making them immediately 'Ready for INSPIRE'.
