con terra - is located in Münster, Germany. The company's geographic reach encompasses Germany and, to a growing extent, the international market.
Karl Wiesmann and Uwe König are the chief executive officers of the company. con terra currently employs personnel, most of whom are university graduates from the fields of geoinformatics, information technology, mathematics, geosciences, landscape ecology and cartography.
con terra's core competence comprises the whole spectrum of methods and tools used in the manufacturing of IT solutions in the field of geodata processing. This includes all the semantic, structural, and pragmatic aspects of collecting, managing, analysing and displaying spatial data, as well as training and consultancy activities in the field of geoinformation systems.
The software landscape is currently in a state of transformation, whereby a multitude of standalone systems are being incorporated within a network of distributed resources. con terra is making an active contribution to the form of this trend through its associated membership of the OpenGIS Consortium (OGC) and its activities in several OGC technical working groups, in which it is involved in developing standards for interoperable GI systems. con terra is involved in several projects, both on a national and a European level, which serve to spur on the formation of local and regional geodata infrastructures.
